Halfpipe

Matt Driggs, Joel Heflin Halfpipe (C-Class), 2004. Sculpture

This post-studio sculpture piece implements a familiar recreational object that is often associated with disruption of public spaces and social environments. The function of the halfpipe in public skate parks is one of benefit for the community as well as containment for what has traditionally been associated with anti-establishmentary behavior. Halfpipe addresses the use and designation of public space, public architecture and sculpture.
